Terms of Service & Refund Policy
1. What DutyScan is
DutyScan provides decision-support software for US Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification research. It does not provide customs brokerage services, does not provide legal advice, and is not a licensed customs broker. Every classification produced — free or paid — is advisory, not a binding ruling, and should be verified with a licensed customs broker before entry filing.
2. The Deep Scan product
$500 USD per Deep Scan, charged at checkout via Stripe. A Deep Scan is a review of the customer's submitted product catalogue of up to 50 SKUs/products, not a single-item classification. Catalogues containing more than 50 SKUs may require a separate quote before work begins. Products within the submitted catalogue are reviewed for likely HTS classification and tariff exposure, with in-depth evidence-backed analysis — including competing classifications, independent adversarial review, financial impact estimates, and refund opportunities where applicable — concentrated on products identified as higher-risk or requiring deeper review.
Reports are typically delivered within 1–2 business days after DutyScan has received the catalogue and the information reasonably required to perform the review. Complex cases or requests for customer clarification may extend this timeframe.
3. Customer responsibilities
To perform a Deep Scan, the customer must provide: the product catalogue to be reviewed; reasonably sufficient descriptions or information for each product; and any additional technical information DutyScan reasonably requests where a classification depends on a specific missing attribute (for example, material composition or construction detail). Catalogue submission currently occurs by email to hello@getdutyscan.com, or another method DutyScan provides. The delivery timeframe in Section 2 runs from when DutyScan has received the catalogue and the information reasonably required to perform the review — not from the date of payment if that information has not yet been provided.
4. No warranty of accuracy
Classifications are generated using an automated analysis pipeline informed by publicly available CBP rulings and the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. DutyScan does not warrant that any classification will be accepted by CBP or any other authority, and disclaims liability for duties, penalties, or other losses arising from reliance on a DutyScan classification.
5. Limitation of liability
Total liability for any claim arising from a Deep Scan is capped at the amount paid for that Deep Scan ($500 USD).
6. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
7. Intellectual property
The customer may use the Deep Scan report for their own business purposes, including sharing it with a customs broker or internal stakeholders. DutyScan retains all rights to its underlying methodology, software, and the report format itself.

Refund Policy
- If a Deep Scan is never delivered after DutyScan has received the catalogue and the information reasonably required to perform the review (e.g., a stuck or failed job with no resolution), the customer receives a full refund. A Deep Scan is not considered "never delivered" or failed while DutyScan is waiting on the customer to provide the catalogue, required product information, or a requested clarification.
- Within 7 days of delivery, a customer may request a full refund if unsatisfied with the report, no questions asked.
- After 7 days, DutyScan's voluntary satisfaction refund period ends. This does not affect any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
- Refunds are not available on the basis that CBP or a broker later reaches a different conclusion than the DutyScan report — the report is a decision-support analysis, not a guarantee of a specific regulatory outcome.
